PRESIDENT NICOLAS BARAZIN AND JEAN-CLAUDE POITRAS, DESIGNER – 2008
BEGINNING OF DIGITAL CERAMIC GLASS PRINTING – 2011
LAUNCH OF THE ABSOLUTE COLLECTION – 2015

1985

Claude A. Barazin is an interior designer and craftsman, specialized in stained glass. In his small workshop of 200 m2 (2,150 sq.ft.), he makes stained-glass windows and window panes for the door-and-window manufacturing industry, which is just starting to wake up to the magic of glass. Quality and originality make an impression.

1988

With demand growing, he is forced to move into a bigger workshop of 2,200 m2 (23,700 sq.ft.), where he automates part of his production process, develops new quality standards, and founds VA Glass Design. One of Canada’s leading door and window companies, Arcon Canada, distributes his products across North America.

1990

Further expansion: the workshop now covers 3,000 m2 (32,300 sq.ft.).

1995

The company’s reputation makes its way across the ocean: VA Glass Design’s exclusive products are exported to France, Russia and the Middle East. At the same time, they debut in big home-improvement stores – Réno Dépôt, Home Depot Canada, ILDC (an independent Lumber Dealers Co-operative), PAL (a collective of building materials distribution centres), Daigle Lumber and are distributed by a growing number of door-and-window manufacturers and fitters.

1997

Premdor Inc. acquires Arcon Canada’s shares of VA Glass Design.

1998

The ice storm causes the workshop’s roof to collapse, forcing production to stop temporarily and to be moved to its current location. The workshop grows to 4,300 m2 (46,300 sq.ft.).

2003

Nicolas Barazin, the founder’s son, brings VA Glass Design “back home” by buying out all the company’s shares. 2004. Further expansion: the workshop grows significantly from 4,300 m2 (46,300 sq.ft.) to almost 7,000 m2 (75,400 sq.ft.).

2005

Barazin Design is established. The company increases its financial and human investment in design and production of exclusive creations.

2007

A tempering furnace is acquired and the workshop expands again to 10 000 m2 (108 000 sq. ft.).

2008

Chronoglass is established and becomes VA Glass Design’s special-glass division.

2011

A digital printer for printing on glass is acquired; the Imagine collection will know no bounds hereafter.

2012

Today, almost 150 employees strive to ensure VA Glass Design’s name remains synonymous with quality and success.
